The MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND is a positive and personal experience offering married couples an opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives.  It’s a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God.  It’s a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other.  Marriage Encounter Weekend is a weekend about love.  It has been described as “the weekend that will enrich your life”.  It is not a retreat, but a program which gives couples the opportunity to look at themselves privately in a loving encounter.

                This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend.  Every marriage deserves that kind of attention!

FOR WHOM IS MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER FOR?

                Marriage Encounter (M.E.)  is for any couple desiring a richer, fuller marriage.  A marriage can never be too good.  M.E. is designed to deepen and enrich the joys a couple share together, whether they have been married for only a short time, or for many years.  Priests and other religious and widows or widowers are also welcome and are encourage to attend.

                WHAT HAPPENS ON AN ENCOUNTER?

                An atmosphere is created on the weekend where the couple can concentrate on one another, free from the distractions, pressures and tensions of the world.  The weekend begins on a Friday night and rungs through Sunday afternoon.  A series of presentations are given by a team of married couples and a priest.  Each presentation allows you and your spouse a rare opportunity to look at ourselves as individuals, than to look at your marriage and relationship to one another, and finally  to look at your relationship to God and the world.

WHAT MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER IS NOT.

                Marriage Encounter is not a marriage clinic or a marriage counseling session.  It is not a sensitivity group.  It in no way attempts to solve any problem as Couples DO NOT disclose their problems to the group.  The weekend is not group oriented.

DOES THE WEEKEND RESPECT THE COUPLES’S PRIVACY

                Yes!  The weekend is oriented strictly to each individual couple.  You concentrate on your spouse to such an extent that you are hardly aware of the other couples present.  The presentations are given to the group as a whole.  After each presentation, the husband and wife have time in the privacy of their room for their personal discussions.
